My F1 car - Pascaljackson

Post

just a little preview, closer shots and what my thoughts are, coming tomorrow.

[edit]

To answer a few questions, i did this car with Cinema4d in about 15 days. I didnt work every day so it took some time :). Also i did the car in real scale, and it should be fine with the ruels, that are known now^^, maybe something is illegal, if yes correct me.
The dimensions are: 5018.2 mm ; 1800mm , 950mm, wheelbase is: 3432.3 mm.

Yes im thinking about doing cfd tests, but before i can run some i have to learn how to do it and how to model a car in a proper program that supports the export to a cfd program.
I really want to learn it but i didnt find a right program for it yet, maybe you know some nice programs to get into it :).

If it is easier to work with such a program? I dont know, you need to get used to any program. Im using this program for 4 years now so im not that bad.

Sorry for "hijacking" legendary´s thread, i did it on my old car so, but thanks for moving this thread :)

New pics are coming, preparing them right now, so some minutes left and i post them.

This was split from LegendaryM's thread, which obviously shouldn't be hijacked by other peoples own projects.

Please stick to this thread when you want to post developments.

it looks good. but those sidepod intakes looks very small.

simply oneword possible, WOW

That car seems to have alot of detail and bits everywhere. I would love to see an rear end view of the car.

The front wing is vry advanced and rather aimed at downforce instead of getting th air around the tires(not much footplate space there is)

Sidepods seem a bit too small, compare those to mine and see the difference, mine were already too small.

yea, this car is really cool. I am looking for next pictures showing details of this car. But anyway, it looks awesome!
I have a question: in which program did you do this model? (I mean a professional CAD or just 3D graphic programme)
I am starting creating my f1 car and I want to collect some info about designing it.

Try to think about doing some CFD simulations and then you would be able to make you car better.

Good job! =D> =D> =D>

As godsire asked, which programme did you use? It looks more like a 3DSMax model rather than something like Solidworks/Inventor.

Are those 3D graphic programs easier or faster to handle?
How much time you spend for this car?
I don't know anything about those graphic programs but it seems like it is no big thing to do such a wonderful car with them.
With a design program like CATIA this would take weeks or months.
It’s also possible that your PC would struggle to operate the full car.
It seems like the design programs have some advantages here.

Can you give us this car or at least the tires?
I would like to see them once in CATIA.
Just safe them as iges or stp.

so here we go, here and there are some modeling mistakes, gonna fix them :)

Image

1: to get a smooth way to stream the air around the wheel, its kind of a bubble
2: little bump to split the air already there a bit
3: the hole is there to provide that the upper wing is adjustable

Image

Image

Image

1: air goes into the slit, and out of the two slits above, to stall, stream the air around the rear wheel
2: its a cover for my exhaust, that blows the hot air on the upper side of my diffuser and under the crash structure
3: channel outlet for hot air and for a second channel that get feed by the airbox

Image

1: air gets into the endplate on the front side, and is channeld to that slit, for a better vortex control, you see no usual slits in my endplate

Image

Image

1: there is my exhaust, like already said, blows the air right to 2, for taking full advantage of the upper deck of the diffuser

Image

Image

Image

Image

for sure i did some dummy parts into my car, to get real dimensions. the tank is big enough, and the geabox and engine having kinda the real size

1: its the cooler
2: the tank
3: engine, i dont know if i can place it right there, as it is very forward. maybe its illegal or just technical not feasible
4: gearbox
5: thats the channel for more downforce

Image

So this is it :)

Well my main target was a very tiny rear to provide a lot air for the upper side of the diffuser, and the nice and clean flow to my simple rearwing.
Im not a professional, just an 18 years old guy who visualizes his ideas inspired by teams and cfd pics, and may a nice understanding how the air flows ^^

around the diffuser at its tips most teams utilize the space left to have a footplate like on the front wing, it helps with efficiency and stops air flowing in, simple said it is a must have on your car, just an flat area wich increases the efficiency alot.

Also the 2 element beam wing you got isnt allowed, there is an area in front of it wich you can utilize, ferrari used that section last year.

Have you designed your car to meet all current F1 rules?
I'm asking because I doubt it complies with the toblerone rule...

Looks great, but to be fast you're gonna need an F-duct :D

actually im trying to meet all rules,
could you illustrate the toblerone rule? i searched a bit through the forum but i dont get it :)

F-duct? it is disallowed next year, isn't it?

thanks :)

Judging by the sharkfin it would pass that rule wouldnt it?

Also you have no camera mounts. Can you post the cad file? I think i may be able to add a few updates here or there.

Re: My F1 car - Pascaljackson

hey,

i had an idea according to the adjustable rearwing.
If its allowed to adjust it thorugh these pillars, it could be possible to integrate a duct to stall the wing like an f-duct, when the rearwing is activated.

Image

this is the stock position, see these two tubes

Image

when its activated, the pillars going upwards and changing the angle of the wing, in this case the mentioned 12°, or 50mm hight.
during that progress it opens a hatch and the air flows through those tubes, then its the same like on an f duct system.

Image

i didnt think about how this mechanism would exactly work, so its not accurate. just to illustrate such an idea

Furthermore i redone the mentioned stuff from westly, added the specified cameras and redone the splitterfloor a bit because it was too short.

aaaaand i uploaded a 3d pdf of the car, sry for the bad polycount of the mainbody, but i get an error if i set it higher -.-

i dont see the useful part of the F-Duct when it is already flat
