Re: Rotary Engines

Post

Weird the MYT engine hasn't been mentioned in these forums,
if this invention is a success then this is where i see f1 heading in terms of energy efficiency/ cleaner racing, not turbo/electric assisted engines.

The MYT (Massive Yet Tiny) Engine by inventor Raphial Morgado, is an internal combustion engine of new design that features multiple firings in one cycle, producing enormous torque in a small area.

With 40 times higher power to weight ratio, low parts count, low maintenance, high mechanical efficiency, and low pollution.

and has yet to run on anything but an aircompressor. Looking at that engine why not just build a turbine. Speaking in the BS of the video it has the equivalent of infinity cylinders so it should make infinity hp.

this is all basic thermo people energy in - losses= power out. In a combustive reaction its pretty hard to harness all of the energy in one power cycle. add mid power cycles doesn't necessarily help most of your energy is going to making things hot.

It's complete bullshit. There is a reason it's not been discussed here.

EDIT: I will say one thing though, the inventor doesn't seem like your generic 'revolutionary engine' conman, he acutally seems fairly genuine. It's just the engine isn't going to do what he says it will.

His claim of a huge displacement, power, and efficiency in such a small engine has had many people intrigued for years. Everyone has been anxious for him to do a demonstration of the technology running on fuel again, not just compressed air, which is how his present 14" engine is demonstrated.
Pretty much that says it all.

I think this powerplant is a perfect match for autogyro's gearbox.

You can't compare internal combustion with a constant pressure supply. They mention correctly that igniting a fuel to air mixture produces about 5 to 7 times more pressure, however fail to recognize that when the piston moves and the volume expands, the pressure will drop in a (close to) isentropic fashion. The pressure drop is about half to one order of magnitude from TDC (say 50 psi) to 90degrees after (5 to 10 psi). This is not accounted for in their current design. Their pistons are always exposed to the full air supply pressure. No wonder why those power densities are so high. Workshop tooling running on compressed air have similar power-2-weight ratios.

I want answers! I've given up on trying to determine whether or not theres any validity to his statements because he's wasted my time with unrelated stories and baseless "facts".

Also, wheres the compression stroke? All I see is what looks like a fan made of double sided piston heads inside an air cooled can. I think thats why he runs it on compressed air, because instead of the classic intake-compression-power-exhaust he's basically just blowing into a fan.

He also reminds me of the people on TV when insomnia sets in and I find myself watching infomercials at 2:30 in the morning too tired to change the channel, they seem to have the same method of telling stories to make you think you understand it without actually giving you any information, then supporting themselves with "facts" with no real scientific basis.

Not only do I not believe him, because of his shady method of demonstration it would probably take an actual, physical experience driving a MYT powered car to trust him again. IMO theres a reason we don't have any answers yet.

Presumably the compression takes place when the opposite chamber is scissoring open due to combustion.

This engine will have the same problem as all non cylindrical combustion chambers: sealing. It's mostly toroidal, which is good and it looks like he's using conventional piston rings , but there's still some huge seams in the inward face that need sealing. Also the outside of those piston rings would travel farther and faster than the inside. Wear issue there?

The nay sayers of the MYT engine news are strongly reminiscent of their predecessors who had so confidently predicted that nobody would prefer to ride one of those 'noisy' automobiles over riding in a quiet buggy. I. for one, believe that the MYT engine will not only prove to be far superior to the reciprocating engine, but when coupled with onboard and 'on demand' hydrogen gas generation from ordinary water, will eventually become the power source of choice for most all applications around the world, and yes, they will eventually be the powerplant of F1 race cars, too.

 I predict there will never be more than 3 of these running on fuel. Hydrogen generator  someone failed physics.

The reasons there are naysayers is simple. They have had years to get this running on some kind of actual fuel, and yet they can only turn it with compressed air.

From what I can find, they have had more than 5 years. Are there technical hurdles so insurmountable that they are unable to get it to run, or is it a bunch of hogwahs that will never run and is simply there to take money and look feasible?

At this point is has to be one or the other, doesn't it?

I have invented a car that requires no engine or on board power source what so ever. It has NO!!!! emissions and does INFINITY miles to the gallon.

It harnesses the same energy source that stops the sun from exploding out, that's how much energy is untapped power this revolutionary power source has. It's power is infinite and undimishing. Any car can be converted to this power source NEW OR OLD with the same level of efficiency. You can go many miles for no fuel, thats INFINITE EFFICIENCY!

I have a demonstration vehicle, and a patent application in my drawer. I'm not putting it in becuase someone will stealthe idea and make themselves a BILLIOARE.Einstein stole his work from a patent office so we know it happens.

Currently the prototpe works in certain scenarios, it requires some elevation and a long declining surface. But with a nominal investment, I'm sure it will work on an incline soon.

But every OEM and F1 team wants autogyro's gearbox   #-o

At the risk of appearing to question the motives of MYT Engine nay sayers who've posted to this forum, I believe Mr. Morgado and Angel Labs are up against some of the most well-healed lobbies in the world, all of whom stand to be relegated to 'also rans' if they have to compete against the MYT engine in all of its many potential applications.

To those who claim 'it won't work', I only need refer you to the Russians who have copied the idea and are introducing it as a powerplant in a new automobile. I doubt that they would have invested so much in an unproved concept.
