Researchable Automotive topics

I'm doing my Graduate Studies in Mechanical Engineering, and want to do my thesis in a somehow automotive-related field. Thing is, all my professors here are far from that field, mostly into renewable energy, control systems, material engineering etc.. which is why they're not convinced with my ideas.

What do you think would be a "researchable" topic for me? I'm just brainstorming here as my deadline to decide is the end of this week.

Anything engine specific? I took an elective course on Internal Combustion Engines and enjoyed it, also read "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell and loved it, so I'm thinking maybe something to do with enhancing engine performance/efficiency or somewhere in that field?

Hi, I hope it's not yet too late, it's more than a week since you posted the question. Anyway, I am a Mechanical Engineering student too, and I am thinking of a thesis topic too, for next year. Seeing that your professors are into different applications of Mechanical Engineering, (similiar to mine), it would be hard to think of an automotive related topic that will have their approval. Maybe you can think of a way to improve the efficiency of engines, like turbochargers, it may impress the renewable energy inclined professors. I read one article a few years ago that was talking about a new kind of forced induction systems that uses a liquid instead of the exhaust gases, something like hydracharger. You can try googling it.
