The Ugly Thing; My F1 "simulator"

Post

Hi all, this is my first thread!

I started the construction of my rig a few months ago. It was pretty ugly at the time, my gf named it "The Ugly Thing" because of that.

It's almost all done now. Just a few more stickers to make.

I'm currently working on a functional F1 wheel, here's the layout:

Good job. The wheel needs to be higher, imo (unless you try to simulate a hot rod).

I assume your planning on refacbricating an existing brand of wheel for this. I wouldn't mind giving this kind of project a shot. Let us know how the wheel works out and how you did it.

Actually the driving position is perfect for me. I always sit straight because of my back pain. Maybe it's the angle of the picture, but the wheel is actually perfectly positioned for me. But thanks for the advice! :)

I'll use my Logitech Driving Force Pro's internals and base. I may customize my pedal set as well. I'm waiting for my 24 push buttons to arrive in the mail (I'll have some spares).

Anyone playing Codemasters' F1 2010? I'm on PS3 and my PSN is CATH-190 (Catherine is my gf), add me if you want to race.

I thought about it and realized you were right about the position of the steering wheel, so I raised it and "changed" the angle as well. It felt weird at first but I realize now that it's way more accurate this way. Thanks for bringing that up!

Here's a few photos:

That's what I see when I'm "driving":

Thanks again!

Yes, that's what I meant. It's like a touring car position, quite upright, but comfortable to race for hours.
