Colorado State FSAE. Well back in the day anyway.
Grip is a four letter word. All opinions are my own and not those of current or previous employers.

This is a good hint, because it is difficult to discover it on track

Spread tow is used on much of the car wherever a balanced fabric is needed.)

Spread tow offers weight savings, primarily because there is less resin needed to fill voids in the matrix as the fibres are layed much flatter than in a conventional cloth. Its used has become very widespread (if you will forgive the pun) throughout the composites industry

I even use spread tow for the wings of my toy gliders.

You can find some more information direct from the manufacturers site here : - http://www.oxeon.se

It seems that an advantage could also be less deviation in performance of the real material from nominal values. Do you confirm?

I could imagine it bonds better to to more commonly used unidirectional plies underneath. The weave gives it a bit more toughness for handling.
