Jason Plato's beef with F1?

Post

First he was having a dig at the "fake" script like nature of what drivers say to the press and now about teamwork...

How the story goes...
He crashed & rolled his car in race 2 of the BTCC meaning his mechanics had 2 hours to fix his car ready for race 3 which would be quite an achievement by his garage garage full of mechanics & engineers who are expected to do everything they can to fix his car... it's what they are paid to do!

So the car made it to race 3 and here is what he has to say afterwards:

“They’re the best racing team in the world, forget F1. That was teamwork. I had tears in my eyes, they had tears in their eyes and to see their commitment makes up for all the bad weekends we’ll ever have. There was real emotion out there today.”

Whats this guys problem? I had respect for him but it's slipping away fast.

The car didn't really look like a transformer either...rollcage & cockpit intact with not much prep needed to meet safety requirements.

Seriously?!
What if he said "for Christ sake", would you create a thread to discuss his attitude towards religion? I mean, that was just an expression, the reason he compared his team's teamwork to F1's and not to something else, is that he probably holds F1 mechanics in the highest regard.
And yes, RLM is probably better and way more experienced than several F1 teams, that's a fact of life. And everyone knows that F1 drivers say PR BS most of the time, it's in their contract, that's a fact as well.
What's the big deal?

He sounds jealous

Or could just be upset that he wont ever make it into F1

Or he got rejected from F1

Or he thinks F1 is overrated

Or he is saying what we are all thinking.

I have never liked the guy but he has a point. F1 is full of PR freindly but meaningless soundbites, with several drivers coming across as groomed or manicured to become more media friendly.

So what's the beef then? If you don't like truisms, don't read factual publications!

I am so tired of the "tabloid aspect" of sports in general.
