I want to prove I'm still the best - Alonso

The 2005 and 2006 Formula One World Champion, Fernando Alonso, declared to the magazine 'F1 Racing' that he needs a super performance to prove that he is still a top driver. At the moment, the press isn't focussed on the performances of Alonso and Renault, but they mainly report on where the Spaniard will drive next season.

Alonso said: “I’ll keep fighting for a podium or even a victory this year because that will prove that I’m still here.

“I want to prove to everybody that I’m still the best so I need a super performance to do that, which means a podium or a win. And I’ll be trying to do it in the second part of the season.”

The next opportunity for Alonso to get on the podium is in his home country during the European GP at Valencia.
