Faure wants more
Renault Motorsport president Patrick Faure wants to add the Constructors' title to Fernando Alonso's drivers' crown to cement their F1 dominance in the 2005 season. Renault is two points behind McLaren Mercedes in the standings with only two Grand Prix left.
Patrick Faure "If we can add the constructors' title to the drivers' it really means that you have dominated the season, that you are really the best. If we win both at this time it will mean we (Renault) have won everything in motor racing."
Fernando Alonso's success gave Renault their first world title as a stand alone team, having supplied engines to the likes of Benetton and Williams during their title-winning days. Renault has won the Le Mans 24-hours race and the World Rally Championship, but Faure believes they will need to continue winning races to confirm their arrivals as one of Formula One's major players.
"We will probably have to try to win many other ones to prove that it was not by chance that we won this year."
For Faure Alonso is an 'exeptional talent' but Flavio Briatore has a key part in this year's success story.
"Flavio is completely uncommon as the head of a Formula One team. He is the kind of man who is fantastically able to put things together. He has a very special management system and he has a way of selecting people, organising the job and looking after the results all the time. He is very good at controlling things. Sometimes in special businesses like this one you need special people."
