F1 Teams want Canada back on F1 calendar
The team principals of the Formula One teams will gather for a meeting to discuss the axing of the Canadian Grand Prix on the 2009 calendar. The teams are concerned about the impact of losing the only race left in North America and would like to see the race at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit back on the calendar.
After the World Motor Sport Council, the FIA released a revised 2009 calendar without the Canadian GP. The organisers of the race weren't informed by the governing body and had to find out through the media.
It now appears that a commercial disagreement with Bernie Ecclestone led to the cancellation of the Canadian Grand Prix. The organisers are now hoping that the Canadian government will invest in the race which places the country and Montreal in the spotlight for one weekend a year.
