Alonso proud of his British-given award
Fernando Alonso was awarded 'Best driver of 2008' by British newspaper 'The Times' recently. And had this to say about it while at a university safety event in Gijon, Spain; "That they recognize your work in your own country is normal, but that they do it in others makes me proud and motivates me for next season."
And Alonso also explained why he does not agree with the use of standard engines, "It changes what Formula One is and how they apply it would be like GP2."
