Essential changes to F1 before Virgin enters the sport - Branson

Being linked recently to the purchase of the Honda Formula One team, Richard Branson of the Virgin Group has been coy about his possible involvement regarding that said business deal. Although the British businessman wants a few changes in the sport, mainly for it to be less expensive to run a team and the use of cleaner fuels.

"I love Formula One," declared Branson to the 'BBC' early Saturday morning, "I think it could be even more exciting and I think the management of the sport agree on that.

"But I think they need to organise F1 so the teams can actually make money rather than lose it, particularly the smaller teams. You can still have an incredibly exciting sport that doesn't cost each team hundreds of millions every year just to get the car on the road."

While insisting that the sport should make use of cleaner fuels, an issue that is important should the Virgin Group participate enter the sport, "F1 should be also championing cleaner technology. If we were to get involved we'd want our cars run on clean fuels." Since he believes that running cleaner fuels would set the example for the production car industry.
