McLaren and Kangaroo TV extend relationship until the end of 2009
With the first round of 2009 Formula One Championship just 2 days away, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team announced today that it has extended its agreement with Kangaroo TV until the end of 2009. Kangaroo TV has been an Official Supplier to the team since 2007, providing bespoke Kangaroo TV® sets and exclusive Vodafone McLaren Mercedes content for its guests and VIPs.
For the new season, Kangaroo TV will raise the bar again and will continue to innovate by delivering the best race coverage to the team’s valued guests. In addition to live video, audio and data of World Champion Lewis Hamilton and team mate Heikki Kovalainen, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes branded Kangaroo TV sets will feature yet more functionalities and additional original bespoke content.
“Kangaroo TV has been part of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team hospitality setting for two years already and it is difficult to remember how we were able to convey the Formula One experience to our guests and VIPs before,” said Martin Whitmarsh, Team Principal, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. “The innovative TV devices allow our guests to personalise their spectator experience, help them to capture everything out on the circuit and better understand how it affects our race and our strategy. We are working closely with Kangaroo TV for the upcoming season to find new ways to uniquely enhance the spectator experience.”
“The signature Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Kangaroo TV sets were the first to be introduced in the F1 Paddock and Paddock Club® in 2007 and a forward-thinking move by the team, so their guests could follow and understand the entire race better,” explained Kangaroo TV Europe Business Development Alain Charette. “We are proud to be associated with the 2008 Formula One World Champion’s team for another year; it gives us a challenge to push the limit once more.”
Since May 2006, Kangaroo TV offers an exclusive wireless and mobile service at all Formula One Grand Prix worldwide. The current exclusive licensing agreement with FOA (Formula One Administration Ltd) to rebroadcast Formula One live content expires at the end of the 2011 Championship. The Kangaroo TV service is available to teams, sponsors, media and to the general public from the F1 Village or via several WEB outlets, including from www.kangaroo.tv.
Kangaroo TV provides access to the main F1 international race broadcast, in-car driver cameras, team radio audio, including driver-to-pit conversations, live commentary and radio play-by-play when available, race timekeeping, leader board and statistics in real-time, current event news and information, biographic files on teams and drivers.
