Brabham to make F1 return with Preston
It has been confirmed that the entry for 2010 has been made under the name "Brabham Grand Prix". The team formerly named FormTech GmbH has also revealed that it plans to operate from the former Super Aguri factory in Leafield, having their former technical director Mark Preston on board.
'We appreciate the FIA rules for cost-capped F1 teams and are convinced that the budget limitation is a contemporary obligation and will effect a revitalisation of the Formula 1 World Championship,' read an official statement. 'We would be happy to enter into Formula 1 as a cost-cap team and to meet the challenge under the new rules.'
Preston himself has previously worked at McLaren and Super Aguri and has been recently involved in A1GP at team Monaco.
The team also stated that already 75% of the budget is in place to compete in F1 from 2010 to 2012. If it is eventually approved to enter F1 on June 12, the team will operate from Super Aguri's previous base and use many of its previous assets.
