Bianchi puts Ferrari on top at Silverstone
Jules Bianchi set the fastest time during the second and final day of testing at Silverstone. As a Ferrari development driver, he piloted the Ferrari F14T as a replacement for the recovering Kimi Räikkönen.
Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat topped the majority of the day but dropped to second when Bianchi, for the first time ever in this year's Ferrari car jumped to the top of the timesheet with little more than an hour left in the session. Kevin Magnussen, taking over from Stoffel Vandoorne at McLaren was third fastest.
Sauber's Giedo van der Garde was fourth fastest, ahead of Lewis Hamilton who ended up in the gravel trap during the morning session, causing a red flag and a minor delay in Mercedes' programme.
Sebastian Vettel was 6th fastest while doing tyre testing for Pirelli just like Max Chilton in the Marussia. Charles Pic at Lotus meanwhile started the day with Pirelli's new 18 inch tyre concept before switching to regular sized wheels and rubber.
There were also notably less technical issues on the cars in action compared to yesterday. The longest stoppage was caused by Giedo van der Gardo who ended up in the barriers. With 25 minutes left on the clock and repairs to the trackside barriers required, the session was stopped early, leaving Bianchi with the fastest time of the day.
Only Caterham seemingly had technical problems leaving the car in the garage with Columbian Julián Leal stuck in the garage for a while due to an early electrical issue. Scheduled to share driving duties with Rio Haryanto, Leal was allowed to stay in the car, forcing Haryanto to miss out on his F1 debut.
