Vettel looking forward to first home race with Ferrari
Sebastian Vettel can’t wait to get out for his first lap in Germany with a Ferrari F1 car. The German likes Hockenheim which he considers as a track where setting up the car is quite tricky due to the corners with different speed.
Germany makes its comeback after a year absence as the country could not hold a race last year amid troubled financial situations.
Being German Sebatian Vettel is keen to get back to Germany and meet his fans.
“I think it is nice to come back after last year, when we didn’t have a German Grand Prix.”
“I think it is great to go back to Germany and be able to race.”
“Being German, I think that for all the German drivers it is a privilege to go to your home country and race in front of your home crowd, so I am definitely looking forward to it.”
Vettel had already completed his first race on Ferrari’s home soil, but it will be the first time for him to drive a Ferrari in his country.
“It is the first time for me with a Ferrari car, so I think it should be a special feeling turning up.”
The quadruple champion knows every bit of the Hockenheim Ring from his early years in motorsport.
“I think I know the track itself quite well from junior categories. I raced there a lot. I usually like it and hopefully we can be very competitive.”
Hockenheim is a track with a mixture of different corners. Next to the dominating middle-speed corners there are a few slow and high corners.
“I think it is a good mix, there is everything a driver can ask for.”
“It is quite technical, not that easy to get everything right, and quite tough also to find the right balance of the car because you have so many corners and different speeds, but it is definitely a fun place,” he concluded.
