Vital that performance has been good - Sauber
Following the Malaysian GP, the BMW Sauber F1 Team analysed the race result with mixed emotions. While Jacques Villeneuve finished seventh to score two points, Nick retired from fifth place in the closing stages. Peter Sauber talks about the race.
"I'm truly happy with the two points," revealed the former Sauber Team Principal following the thrilling race at Sepang. "We would be ungrateful if regretting not having scored five points."
Both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers delivered in fine style at the 'Sepang International Ciruit' and set competitive lap times. Peter Sauber, who was attending his first Grand Prix of the 2006 season, is well aware of this fact. "It's vital that our performance has been good," he said. "We nearly matched the pace of the front runners. That was new and proves that the team has done a great job."
In two weeks, the BMW Sauber F1 Team will contest the Australian Grand Prix. Peter Sauber's motto is: Don't look back, focus on the things to come. "Melbourne will be a completely different race than the two contested so far," the Swiss added. "It's a stop-and-go race. I can't say if this is going to suit us well. Possibly we won't do too badly there."
