Williams Team Principal Jost Capito to miss the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Williams CEO and Team Principal Jost Capito will miss the penultimate round of the 2021 F1 season after testing positive for Covid-19 ahead of this weekend's inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The 63-year-old German, who joined Williams as chief executive officer in February 2021 before becoming team principal in June, will miss this weekend's inaugural Jeddah F1 race after he returned a positive Covid-19 test. The result will probably mean that the team from Grove will be without its team principal at next weekend's Abu Dhabi round that will bring the 2021 season to an end.
The team released the following statement: "The FIA and Formula 1 can confirm that Williams Racing CEO and Team Principal Jost Capito has tested positive for COVID-19 prior to travelling to Jeddah for this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
"Jost is now following UK national health authority guidelines. There has been no wider impact on Williams Racing personnel and the team will continue to operate trackside as planned."
