Norris set to race with one of Formula One's most special helmet designs ever at Budapest
Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory has unveiled an eye-watering helmet design with which McLaren driver Lando Norris is set to race at this weekend's Budapest race.
The McLaren driver has unveiled a unique helmet design for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The livery is reminiscent of Max Verstappen's trophy that the Dutchman received for winning the Hungarian Grand Prix last year and which was accidentally broken by Norris on the podium.
After finishing on the podium in the 2023 Budapest F1 round, the McLaren star intentionally banged his champagne bottle on the rostrum, causing Verstappen’s trophy to fall off the top step.
The trophies were manufactured by Herend Porcelain Manufactory that is specialized in luxury hand painted and gilded porcelain. The estimated value of the trophy that has been smashed by Norris was EUR40000.
After landing in Budapest, Norris visited the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. During his visit, he expressed regret for last year's incident, and as a special gesture towards the maker, Herend Porcelain Manufactory, the McLaren driver will race at the Hungaroring with a helmet that features a pattern very similar to the porcelain trophies.

Commenting on his unique helmet design, Norris noted: "Honour to team up with herendporcelain on this hand painted masterpiece for Hungary.
"When we got together we knew we wanted to do something special and here it is. From the bottom of my heart thank you (and sorry about last year)."
Norris will not be the only one to race with a special helmet design at the Hungaroring. Alpine racer Esteban Ocon will also sport a unique helmet livery in Budapest.
Ocon's helmet will also display patterns that are usually associated with the porcelain product of the Herend Manufactory. With the unique design, the Frenchman will remember the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix which he sensationally won to secure his first and until now only F1 triumph.
Commenting his Instagram post, Ocon noted: "special race, special helmet".
