Ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, the Hungaroring has revealed that it will commemorate the great Ayrton Senna with specially-painted kerbs.

The Hungaroring is set to stage the 39th Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend. The track that is located 26km away from Hungary's capital of Budapest has gone through the first phase of its thorough renovation with the second phase of the work set to continue as soon as the F1 field leaves the circuit after this weekend's Budapest F1 round.

While the promoter has come up with a raft of activities and programmes to make the race weekends for fans unforgettable, there is a nice touch in sporting terms.

The Hungaroring has elected to paint the kerbs at the only chicane of the track - Turns 6 and 7 - green and yellow to commemorate the three-time F1 world champion Ayrton Senna.

In a social media post, the Hungaroring noted: "Tradition is the link between the past and the present. And part of keeping traditions alive is not forgetting the greats, without whom we would not be here today.

"With the colours of the chicane, we remember Ayrton Senna, who died 30 years ago."

This year marked the 30th anniversary of death of the Brazilian driver, who passed away at the San Marino Grand Prix on 1 May 1994.

This follows a series of activities all around the world as tributes continue to be paid to a man who, according to the experts of the time, could have been the greatest of all time.

At this year's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and fellow drivers were joined by hundreds of fans, politicians from Brazil and Italy, plus a representative from Austria to also recall fellow Formula One driver Roland Ratzenberger, who died a day earlier during qualifying.

On Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, Vettel took to the Imola track to pay tribute to Senna driving one of the three-times world champion's former cars.

Silverstone will also pay tribute to Senna's incredible successes when the Silverstone Festival (23-25 August) will honour the Brazilian. The Fesitval will feature an eye-catching collection of cars raced by the triple world champion. This incredible display will feature many of Senna’s revered racers from Formula 1 as well as from his earlier formative years in a fitting celebration of his legacy.
