Marko reveals what could lift Red Bull's performance

Reflecting on Red Bull's current struggles in Formula One, the company's motorsport advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has revealed how the Milton Keynes-based outfit could improve its form.

Having struggled for pace in recent rounds, reigning champion Max Verstappen returned to the podium at the Singapore Grand Prix, securing a second place for Red Bull. The result also meant that the Dutchman is yet to win at the Marina Bay Circuit, while his second place also saw his current winless streak extend to eight Grands Prix.

Red Bull's motorsport advisor Dr. Helmut Marko saw Verstappen's second-place finish at the Marina Bay Circuit as a great result, claiming that "second place [in Singapore] was equivalent to a win for us."

While Marko acknowledges that the departure of star designer Adrian Newey might have had an impact on Red Bull's current performance, he thinks that the Milton Keynes-based outfit has the necessary potential to bounce back from its current struggles.

"Newey is no longer with us from March next year and is no longer involved in the current car. It's a rhetorical question. We have a broad-based team and that should solve this."

Marko insists that Red Bull's aging wind tunnel has also been a significant issue which has held the team's performance back in recent times, but a new wind tunnel should improve the situation in two years' time.

"A modern wind tunnel would help us. Our wind tunnel dates from just after World War II. That, of course, has its drawbacks. It takes a very long time to raise the temperature in it. The tunnel is out of date and I hope that in '26 our new wind tunnel can be put into operation."
