Williams' junior driver Franco Colapinto will partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull from the 2025 F1 season, claims former Argentinian F2000 driver Ruben Daray.

Franco Colapinto joined the Williams Driver Academy in 2023, and has raced in Formula One's main feeder series, in Formula 2 this year. However, Williams elected to part ways with the struggling Logan Sargeant after the difficult Dutch Grand Prix where he suffered a high-speed crash in the final practice session.

The Grove-based outfit then decided to promote Colapinto, who made his Formula One debut with the British outfit at the 2024 Italian Grand Prix as an interim for the incoming Carlos Sainz Jr.

With his debut, he became the first Argentine driver to compete in Formula One since Gastón Mazzacane in 2001. Colapinto scored his maiden points finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Speaking to the Continental Radio, former Argentinian F2000 driver Ruben Daray reckoned that Colapinto will not be left without a racing seat, claiming that the Williams junior will join reigning champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull, replacing the struggling Sergio Perez.

"The source is not mentioned, but it is very serious. The information I have is that Colapinto will drive at Red Bull not at [its] B team [Visa Cash RB].

Daray, who was the first person to predict that Colapinto would replace Logan Sargeant at Williams, has praised his countryman's skills.

"He would take Checo Perez down. Colapinto is a boy from down under and is there on his own. A great boy," said the Argentinian.
