Former F1 driver joins Cadillac as simulator driver
Former Formula One driver Marcus Ericsson has revealed that he is involved in the early stages of the build-up phase of the brand-new Cadillac F1 outfit.
Marcus Ericsson, who raced previously for the Sauber F1 outfit and is currently competing in the IndyCar championship, has revealed that he has been asked to offer his help in the build-up phase of the Cadillac’s F1 project. The Sweden, who won the famous Indy 500 race in 2022, travelled to England to evaluate simulators for the new team as it prepares to join the grid in 2026.
“My employer, Andretti, has asked me to fly to England to test different simulators. I will provide feedback so they can choose the right model for the whole organisation, including Formula 1, IndyCar, and sports cars.
“Simulators have become an integral part of motorsport, and I’ve been working on improving my own use over the winter. It’s great that they want to use me and my experience to help,” he said.
In the meantime, Williams' former technical director and F1 chief technical officer Pat Symonds has delivered an update about his involvement in the Cadillac F1 team, revealing that he has joined the American team as a consultant.
“I am delighted to announce that today, January 1st, I officially take up my new role at Cadillac as we build our team to contest the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship,” Symonds shared.
“Our first Formula 1 car will use a Ferrari power unit and transmission pending the development of the all-new Cadillac power unit.”
