Williams releases video of Sainz's first official visit

Ahead of his debut with the British squad, Williams have now released the video that captures four time F1 race winner Carlos Sainz's first visit to their Grove-based headquarters.
Following his debut run with Williams during last year's post-season Pirelli tyre test, Carlos Sainz was able to collect more mileages with the Grove-based outfit's 2023 F1 car as the British squad was ramping up its preparation for the upcoming season.
Williams travelled to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, home of the Spanish Grand Prix to complete a two-day test running under the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) regulations.
The four-time F1 race winner recently visited the Williams Racing headquarters in Grove, marking his first official day with the team. For his first official visit to the Williams factory, Sainz engaged in an exchange with the entire staff, guided by team director James Vowles.
Speaking of Sainz's integration into the British outfit, Vowles stated: “He’s fitting in perfectly. He’s a brilliant personality who brings not just race-winning pedigree, but this want and desire for Williams to be successful.
“I was with him and Alex [Albon] for three, four hours just talking through plans for the year. And his contributions are absolutely key for driving this team forward because it’s now into a level of detail where you’re starting to chase milliseconds as opposed to the big ticket items we were before," Vowles said.
The Grove-based team showed off their new car, the FW47 last Friday, and Sainz and his new team-mate Alexander Albon were able to complete their first laps as the team staged a filming day on which teams are allowed to cover a maximum distance of 200km.
“The first 100 kilometres in the FW47 are done and it has been a smooth day. We managed to complete all the run plan without any issues, and I got my first proper feeling for the car.
"It was a bold statement from Williams to show the first lap of this new car to our partners, the media, and our fans, and it went very well. Good job to everyone back at Grove – now we're ready for the season to start," concluded the Spaniard.
