Ferrari releases emotional video about Hamilton's first days at Maranello
Formula One's Maranello-based outfit, Ferrari have now released an emotional video in which it reveals the moments when Lewis Hamilton first visited their headquarters.
Hamilton completed his first visit to Ferrari's Italian headquarters on January 20 when he met engineers and the staff at the Scuderia's F1 department. The Briton then took part in photo shooting on Tuesday before performing work in the simulator.
The Briton then hit Ferrari's own test track at Fiorano on Wednesday. Even if weather was far from ideal, the seven-time F1 champion carried out some installation laps and start practices before racking up some mileages on slick tyres to end the day with a total of 30 laps.
The 105-time F1 race winner was supported by his mother Carmen, his former trainer Angela Cullen while team boss Fred Vasseur and deputy team boss Jerome d'Amborosio also looked on.
Reflecting on his first on-track day with Ferrari, Hamilton hailed the experience as “one of the best feelings of my life”.
Since then, the seven-time F1 champion completed a two-day test with Ferrari's 2023 F1 car at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before taking part in another two-day outing with Pirelli.
Ferrari have now released an emotional video, capturing Hamilton's first days with Formula One's most successful F1 team.
Hamilton's first words were captured as he met with his new employers for the first time: I’ve been waiting for this day forever, so I’m really, really happy I’m excited to meet everybody, I can’t wait to start and get going. I’ve seen photos of this [the Fiorano Circuit].
"When I was running down with the hairpin over there and I was looking back over here and I was like, oh my god. It was like hitting me in waves. It’s been such a dream to come here and have this experience.
“It’s amazing, [I] have got my parents here, my dad and my two moms. And yeah, it’s been a long, long, long way. I feel like it’s the first day of work, first day of school," Hamilton concluded.
