Re-writing history
Some political regimes were famous for cutting people who had fallen out of favour out of official photographs and here in Imola, the race organisers have had their own little go at re-writing history. Last year’s San Marino Grand Prix was brought to life by a thrilling battle as Fernando Alonso, in a slower car, fought off a hard charging Michael Schumacher to take the win.
However, the poster purporting to depict this event and used to advertise this year’s event all around the surrounding area shows the German’s Ferrari in front of the Spaniard’s Renault.
The Car in Front is a Toyota
To get festivities going in the new Energy Station, we hosted a special slot-car race on Thursday night. Back in Australia, engineers from every team in the pit lane had been given an all-white Formula 1 slot car with instructions to personalise it as they wished. Then here in Imola, the showdown took place on the special track which covered half the first floor of the building. To be honest, not all the teams showed up, as we had kind of forgotten that race engineers might be just a little bit busy on a Thursday afternoon before a race. Well duh! The winners were the lads from Toyota, even without Mike Gascoyne.
Silver Dream
It seems you can take the man out of McLaren but its harder to take McLaren out of the man. Remember yesterday we told you about the drivers getting Maseratis? Well we’ve only just noticed that DC’s is silver ... McLaren silver?
