Schumi primed for Nurburgring success
Michael Schumacher is confident that he can continue his winning ways at the Nurburgring this weekend. "We had a good tyre test with Bridgestone last week and I am confident that we can fight for the win at the European Grand Prix," said the seven-time world champion.
"In general, the performance that we showed at Imola is what Ferrari is capable of now. I think we will be able to perform close to that all year.”
Michael has previously won at the Nurburgring four times and, with the absence of Spa-Francorchamps from the F1 calendar this year, it is his home track.
"Coming from Kerpen," he says, "it's natural that I'm excited about racing at home. I did a lot of my junior racing at the track and I hope to put on a good performance for all my fans."
Schumacher's Ferrari F248 will continue to benefit from the engine, aerodynamic and suspension upgrades which came at Imola two weeks ago.
However, several of his closest rivals will also enjoy new technical packages: both McLaren drivers and Fernando Alonso will have new-spec engines. "It will be a good battle, I'm sure," says Michael.
