JV still claiming his innocence
Although Jacques was given a time penalty for blocking Giancarlo Fisichella during Saturday's qualifying at the Nurburgring, the BMW-Sauber driver is still protesting his innocence. Following the qualifying session, Fisichella blasted Jacques for being "unprofessional", claiming that the Canadian had ruined his chances of him winning the European Grand Prix.
Fisichella's complaints resulted in the stewards dropping Jacques down the grid, from eighth place to tenth.
Jacques Villeneuve "I was of course disappointed with the decision the FIA took after Fisichella complained that I blocked him on Saturday, but thanks to Webber's engine change, I finally lost only one place on the grid, putting me on the clean side of the track.
To be honest, I don't think that I have blocked him, there was enough length between us and I guess that his reaction was a bit exaggerated.
Anyway, the qualifying format is the same for everyone and to be on the track at the right time is a key part of the game..."
