Disagreements in the GPWC
The GPWC is not as united as one might imagine. Although an agreement between the GPWC, the banks and Bernie is closer than ever, there is a problem dividing the members of the association: what can they do about the banks? The banks wish to sell 75% of the shares they own and leave the sport. Mercedes is keen on a take-over, but BMW is strictly against this. This solution would require each team to invest 400 million dollars. BMW feels that such an investment is too high without knowing what the future holds in store for the sport.Leading man at BMW Gerhard Berger has confirmed that BMW has problems with the stake of Mercedes in F1, and might drop out of the GPWC if this problem is not solved.
