Renault to protest Schumi's pole
The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team is planning to protest Ferrari's Michael Schumacher pole postion at Monaco. Schumacher parked his car at Rascasse causing a hold up for the drivers who were still clocking a fast lap, like Fernando Alonso.
"I was three tenths up before that final corner so yes, I would have been on pole." stated Alonso during the FIA press conference.
Schumacher defends himself, though, by explaining what happend. “I locked up in Rascasse and ran wide and unfortunately the car was stuck on the track. I tried to find reverse, but as the other cars were coming, I decided against that and then the engine stalled."
Michael Schumacher appeared to have had enough time to switch to reverse gear but apparently stalled his engine. The incident is now under investigation by the FIA to check whether Schumacher is to blame or he could not prevent the engine from stalling.
