Doornbos wins Napoli race of champions

Like the event which is organised in December every year, Napoli hosted the Italian version of the Race of Champions last weekend. Driving in Subaru Group N rallycars, Renault Mégane Cup cars and Saleen GT’s, Robert Doornbos had to take it up against many drivers, including Giancarlo Fisichella, Max Biaggi, Mika Salo, Andrea Montermini and Tonio Liuzzi.

After having won several heats, Robert had to battle with Andrea Montermini in the finals. By driving the fastest laptime in this two-lap race, Doornbos won the event in front of a crowd of 13.000 spectators.

Robert Doornbos “This was good fun. It was the first time I raced a car with a roof on top of me, so after testing with RBR the last three days, that was quite weird, haha! Today I’ll take a flight to the UK, where I’m expected to do our shakedown for next weekend’s GP at Santa Pod.”
