Albers helps the race of the cheetah

By on

Since 15 december 2005, Christian Albers, the Midland F1 driver, is an official ambassador for the Dutch foundation SPOTS and the Cheetah. The Cheetah is the fastest country animal on the planet, but as many species also the Cheetah is threatened to die out. Albers, who likes to personify himself with the Cheetah, wants to help prevent this by joining forces with SPOTS.

The Cheetah is an atypical member of the cat family that hunts by speed rather than by stealth or pack tactics. It is one of the fastest of all land animals and can reach speeds of up to 103 km/ in short bursts up to 457 meters. The cheetah is well known for its amazing acceleration from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds which is faster then the SLR McLaren.

Only a century ago, there were over 100.000 Cheetah's in 44 countries. Today, there are only 10.000 of these fast predators left. Christijan Albers, the popular Dutch Formula One driver now wants to use his popularity to save the Cheetah.

At the end of May, before leaving to Monaco, Albers visited a zoo in Belgium to meet some real life Cheetah's and to promote the foundation SPOTS.
