Crick joins the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge
Greg Crick has thrown his support behind the 2006 Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge, taking place in November this year. Crick, who currently leads the Australian GT Championship in a Dodge Viper, will tackle Webber over the last 500 metres of the Longford Mile, but this time, neither of them will be in a race car.
Instead they’ll both be on Mountain Bikes, and with Crick giving plenty away to Webber in the age stakes, the Tasmanian knows he’ll have to work hard in the lead up to the show down.
Crick said; “While I may be a little older than Mark, it’s a great challenge for me, and I was only too happy to throw my support behind Mark’s Charity fundraiser, and despite whether I win or lose, the Kids who fight adversity and illness everyday are the real winners in my eyes”.
As for the showdown with Mark on the famous Longford mile, Crick commented; “I haven’t ridden a bike for many years so that’s a challenge in itself, but I’m working very hard on that. Never count out the old dogs, they can still bite now and then”.
Crick also said “It will certainly be a memorable moment for me, and I urge Tasmanian’s to come out and support the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge, not just here at the mile when we race, but right around the State”.
The Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge was launched as a major charity initiative to raise money for Victorian-based TLC For Kids and the Cancer Council Tasmania’s Cancer Plus program and will take place in Tasmania from 5-10 November 2006.
