Who's on the beach?

The three-week summer break in the calendar is a time for the grand prix circus to put up its feet and relax after 21 weeks on the road. The testing ban means that no one can gain an advantage by pounding around a test track in southern Europe. The only place to go is the beach – or is it?

The key players of the Bridgestone Motorsport team are spending the break with their families at home, while the drivers of the 10 Bridgestone-shod cars have varied plans.

Ferrari

Michael Schumacher – spending time at home with his family in Vufflens-le-Chateau, Switzerland. As well as maintaining his fitness levels for the remaining rounds of the World Championship, Michael will do some horse riding and karting with his children.

Felipe Massa – returning to Sao Paulo in Brazil, where he will spend time with his family. He plans to squeeze in a trip to the beach as well.

Toyota

Jarno Trulli – claims that his favourite holiday resort is the Maldives, but Jarno is spending the break in his hometown of Pescara, where he will relax with wife Barbara and their son Enzo.

Ralf Schumacher likes to go to Dubai when he can, but Ralf will be sticking to the mountains for the next couple of weeks, getting his fix of Austrian fresh air.

Williams

Mark Webber – a PR event in Iceland this week is his only professional commitment. After that, he’s heading to a stag ‘do’ in Cardiff this weekend, before acting as best man to his Australian mate ‘Joffer’ the following weekend.

Nico Rosberg – heading to the island of Ibiza for the beginning of the break, before flying to Rotterdam on 20 August for the Bavarian City Racing Event, where he will demonstrate the Williams FW28 in front of an expected crowd of 300,000.

MF1 Racing

Christijan Albers – at home in Holland for the beginning of the break, before heading to Rotterdam to demonstrate the M16 at the Bavarian City Racing Event. He attended the event last year and was “blown away by the enthusiasm of the crowd”.

Tiago Monteiro – Portugal and London – where his girlfriend lives – before joining his team-mate in Rotterdam to demonstrate the M16 at the Bavarian City Racing Event.

Super Aguri

Takuma Sato – at Silverstone this week, where he will learn to drive on the skid-pan. He’ll then return to Monaco to be with his wife and 8-month child.

Sakon Yamamoto – will spend the break at home in Oxford, making regular visits to the Super Aguri factory at Leafield.
