I enjoy the pressure - Fisico

The Renault F1 Team’s Italian ace, Giancarlo Fisichella, is looking forward to his home Grand Prix at Monza this weekend. Fisichella is also very pleased with the team's decision to let Kovalainen race next season.

Giancarlo, Monza has often been a good track for you. Your best qualifying position here is 3rd and you finished on the podium here last year…

"Monza is my home, so I’m really pleased to be here this weekend. I am looking forward to it. The last Italian on the podium before me was Michele Alboreto. My goal is to be on the podium this weekend."

Will the R26 be competitive?

"I think we have a good chance. We tested here for three days last week and we have a good package. The fight will be with Ferrari once again, but it won’t be easy."

A large part of the circuit was resurfaced recently. Has it changed anything?

"I was driving for the first two days and didn’t notice any problems. It is still a bumpy track, but I think it’s OK and there is not a big difference compared to 2005. We had some problems with blistering on the final day, but that’s the reason why we go testing – to find the problems!"

The team has announced Heikki Kovalainen will be a race driver in 2007. What’s your opinion?

"I am really pleased he will be my team-mate. He’s a good guy – and a quick driver. It will be a tough season next year and there will be pressure, but that’s what I like. For now, I am focusing on the end of this championship. We still have a lot to do!"
