Schumi and Ferrari photographed by Michael Comte

From October 7th to November 7th the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello will host a series of images dedicated to the Scuderia Ferrari and Michael Schumacher made by über-photographer Michel Comte: 30 shots, a special selection taken from his travelling exhibition "The Face of Pace", that grasp the face of speed, a picture permeated by enthusiasm and passion.

To take these photos, Comte followed races all over the continent for more than 15 years. This is how a unique reportage grew out, where there are not only images of the Formula 1's everyday life, the racing cars, the fans' passion, Jean Todt, engineers and mechanics both in their frenzied activities as well as in their pauses of wait, but also some intense portraits of Schumacher.
Comte's black and white and colour photos clutch the dynamism of a motionless image visualizing "the face the pace".

In order to present the high-tech material used in Formula 1 more effectively Michel Comte - and the specialists at the renowned Tricolor Laboratories in Zurich - produced the photographs using the new and lavish "Dura-Clear" process in which the large format negatives are digitally transferred to transparent clear-film.

Beside the photos, the Galleria will also show Schumacher's original overall and helmet and his 2002 World Champion F1.

The exhibition catalogue, available in Italian and English, will be on sale at the Galleria bookstore.

Michel Comte, born 1953 in Zurich, is one of the masters of his profession. Internationally acclaimed due to his international advertising campaigns as well as his work as a fashion and celebrity photographer, he has also in recent years increasingly devoted himself to feature photography. These works are not exclusive to the field of cars and motor racing but also shot on behalf of the Red Cross in the war and crises-wracked regions of Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia.

The Galleria Ferrari of Maranello, located near the factory and the Fiorano track, is open every day, holidays included, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (all-day opening).
