At the prestigious Autosport Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night, Jenson Button was presented with the British Competition Driver of the Year award. Jenson was handed his award by former F1 drivers Martin Brundle and Damon Hill to rapturous applause from the audience, following his first grand prix win at the Hungarian GP in August.

Commenting on the award, Jenson Button thanked the fans who had voted for him: “Having the support behind you makes the big difference. I have had a lot of support, even in the bad years, but to get the win this year was spectacular.”

Talking about his momentous first win in Hungary which saw him race from 14th on the grid to the top step of the podium, Jenson said, "We were the best team on the day, we did the best job on the day, we didn't have the quickest car but we got the job done."
