Peter Sauber to be 'on site' in 2007
Peter Sauber cannot complain about being underemployed. As in 2006, he will attend numerous Grands Prix this year. In addition, the 63-year-old will work for Swiss TV. In the BMW Sauber F1 Team's debut season, the former Team Principal of the Sauber team attented ten rounds for the Formula One World Championship. "It should be the same in 2007," confirms Sauber. "I'm going to attend to BMW, Petronas and Credit Suisse VIPs and in addition I will work in the pit-lane for Swiss TV."
From there, Sauber will provide the audience with his unique insight regarding the races - with a special focus on the results of the BMW Sauber F1 Team. The squad from Munich and Hinwil has set itself the goal of securing more podium finishes this year. "Nick Heidfeld, with all his experience, and Robert Kubica have what is needed to do so," says the Swiss. "And the fact that they are going to really battle it out with one another will be an advantage for us."
Following the fifth position secured in the 2006 Constructors' Championship, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is deteremined to keep on closing the gap to the top teams. Nevertheless, Sauber is aware that it will be anything but easy to achieve this goal: "Fourth position would be a really, really ambitious goal. It would be great if we could make it to the podium by our own means."
