Q+A Aguri Suzuki
The Super Aguri Formula One Team immediately geared up for the GP in Bahrain after the Malaysian race yesterday. Team Principal, Aguri Suzuki, talks about the Bahraini GP and the start of the 2007 season for the Japanese team.
"Oh, time flies! If we look back one year, the 2006 Bahraini Grand Prix seems like it was just yesterday. Surely, we must have done very well to be coming back here again!"
The team has made an encouraging start to the 2007 season, what are your performance expectations for Round Three of the Championship?"In reality, we are small, under-funded, independent team competing in the pinnacle of motorsport against a number of large car manufacturers. But we have to do as much as we can in our current situation and use, to maximum effect, the advantages of being a small, close-knit team. Our objective is still to achieve tenth position in the World Championship, and I believe that this year it is truly possible.
What challenges does the Bahrain International Circuit hold for the SA07?"There is no difference between any of the F1 circuits for us. As we are such an inexperienced team, we should look at the calendar circuit by circuit and take each step as it comes, that’s all we can do for the best."
…And for the Honda engine?"The Honda engine is stable and reliable so we can expect the best performance using this at any circuit."
…And the new Bridgestone Potenza tyres?"We have a good relationship with Bridgestone and worked very closely with them last year. As we have only tested in Bahrain with the new tyres, I cannot say exactly how they will be for the race, but so far they appear to be working well."
