Spanish federation makes a statement in support of Alonso
The Royal Spanish Car Federation, RFEA, has issued a statement in support of Fernando Alonso. The double World Champion was moved 5 places back on the grid by the race commissioners this weekend at Hungaroring.
The statement underlines the honesty of Fernando Alonso and says the federation will take action following the events seen at the Grand Prix race in Hungary over the weekend. The RFEA said in the statement that Alonso has shown his professionalism and has their ‘total support and absolute confidence’.
Also that they intend to protest before international organisations, and reveal that his punishment came from the race commissioners and not the FIA as had been previously thought, although the FIA was given the job of releasing the news to the press. The Spanish racing organisation says it accepts the decision of the commissioners, but it is not in the least bit of agreement with it.
The statement said:
"The RFEA believes Fernando Alonso's explanation. We wish publicly to make clear our total backing for, and absolute confidence in, Fernando Alonso, who has shown his professionalism and honesty throughout his brilliant career.
This Federation hopes these incidents do not happen again as they gravely harm the image of motor racing through its main representation: Formula One."
