Fisico feels frustrated
The Italian ING Renault F1 Team driver, Giancarlo Fisichella, was stuck in traffic and wasn’t able to show the speed of his R27 today. The Roman was put back 5 places on the grid after a penalty and only finished the Hungarian GP in 12th position.
"Yes! In fact, everything was decided yesterday evening. When the Stewards gave me a 5-place penalty I knew that my race was compromised. I couldn’t change the fuel load we’d decided on. There’s a big difference between starting from 8th and 13th places. In addition, I’m still convinced I didn’t deserve the penalty."
How did your race go?"I made a good start but then I was held up by slower cars all through the race. When I was alone on the track – which wasn’t very often – I showed that my car’s performance had little to envy the others. Then, unfortunately, after my second stop I tagged Davidson’s Super Aguri. Something must have broken as the R27 became very difficult to drive."
How do you feel this evening?"I’m frustrated as our points tally doesn’t reflect our competitiveness. We knew we had the potential to do much better this weekend. Anyway, it’s advisable to concentrate on the positive side: the car was a lot better and we really managed to improve the performance methodically throughout free practice. I hope we’ll be able to get the most out of it in Istanbul."
