Fond memories of Interlagos - Heidfeld

In a few days the season finale of the 2007 Formula One season commences in Sao Paulo. BMW Sauber F1 Team driver Nick Heidfeld holds fond memories of the Brazilian Grand Prix and explains the special characteristics of the 4.309 kilometre-long "Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace".

Heidfeld describes the venue for the last Grand Prix of the year as "physically demanding and a driving challenge". The German driver continues: "The track runs counter-clockwise and the straight is actually a very long corner, which is quite strenuous on the neck muscles. The bumpy track surface is a further challenge."

However, Nick has a soft spot for the circuit in Interlagos, which many drivers do not consider one of their favourites. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver is particularly fond of the second third of the "Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace". In addition, Nick was able to celebrate his first career finish on the podium in Brazil, a fact which still evokes positive emotions in Nick until today.

"In my opinion, the race track in São Paulo is one of the most beautiful ones there is," Nick exclaims. "The best sections start after corner three. Corner five, an uphill double-right corner is one of my favourite sections in general. In 2001, I achieved my first podium result in Interlagos. I finished in third place at the time - you never forget an experience like that."
