Vietoris to test for BMW

Christian Vietoris, winner of the Formula BMW World Final 2006, is about to celebrate his debut behind the wheel of a Formula One car: For the occasion of the Formula BMW World Final, the 18-year-old will conduct first test laps on the "Circuit de la Comunitat" in Valencia.

Vietoris prepared for this event with an intensive training programme focussing on strengthening his neck muscles, which will suffer particular strain due to the g-forces experienced in a Formula One car. In addition, he received detailed technical instructions regarding the handling of the BMW Sauber F1 Team vehicle last week.

The German is, nevertheless, anxious to see what awaits him: "Everyone tells me the brakes are extremely powerful - and the g-forces," he told German media representatives. "I try to imagine the circuit much faster than I have actually experienced it so far. This way I can at least prepare as intensively as possible for the procedures in the car."

Vietoris received the opportunity of a Formula One test with the BMW Sauber F1 Team as a reward for his victory at last year's edition of the Formula BMW World Final. At this event, the German driver had dominated his competitors in Valencia and managed to crown a fantastic season, during which he had won the title in the Formula BMW Germany with ease.
