New Francorchamps buildings do not meet fire security standards

According to the Belgian radio station 'La Première', the new buildings at the Circuit of Francorchamps, which are only in use for nine months, do not meet the fire security standards. This was confirmed by the fire department and the mayor of Stavelot.

Thierry de Burnonville, the mayor of Stavelot, declared that although the buildings do not meet with the fire security standards, they can still be used. He said: "Apparently the problem concerns the capacity of the building in terms of number of people. The fire commander examined the plans before the start of the construction works and he had the chance of giving his opinion."

"At the moment there is no reason to prohibit the use of the buildings."
