Fuel cell concept vehicles for Honda drivers

By on

Students of automotive design from Pforzheim University in Germany, one of Europe’s leading automotive design schools, have this year been working on a rather special project: to create designs for ‘off-track’ cars for Honda drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

Sponsored by Honda R&D Europe, the project has been running for the last three years. This year the vehicles had to incorporate Honda’s environmentally-conscious fuel cell technology, and be designed to suit the transport challenges posed by a GP host country of each student’s choice.

The contest generated some fantastic work, with scale models of the winning entries on display in the Honda Racing F1 Team motorhome at the Hockenheim circuit, where the entrants met Ross Brawn, Jenson and Rubens to talk them through their designs.
