One thing I feel the FIA need to get better at is the speed in which they make decisions on things like this. This one seems a little more black-and-white than the last one. Imagine if RB were thinking of taking a new engine for VER while he’s P2 but now they can’t make that call yet. Same with Mercedes, if Verstappen starts seventh, maybe they decide to take a Newington for Hamilton. But that decision would have to wait as well and there’s no way either could swap engines one or two hours before the race.

It feels like as with so many decisions they dithered about it for two hours after the session ended and everyone of note had probably left the circuit for the day or started doing other things.

Or, and this might be slightly controversial, initially decided to try and ignore/ostrich it but then saw it was all over the internet and realised they couldn’t do so any longer.

If Max is up for investigation he will be let off lightly (or totally). Have we learnt nothing other than F1 is now about 'the show' beyond fairness or rules.

After the qualifying practice session:

The minimum distance between the adjacent rear wing sections at any longitudinal vertical plane was
checked on car numbers 44, 77, 33, 04, 05, 14, 31, 55, 22 and 10.

Probably totally irrelevant, but how different would the track drive if the track limits were not so ridiculous? Certainly less flowing, but how much slower?

What a mess by race control...

Just checked some onboards.
Vettel only lifted after he passed Gasly.
Norris' team radio: 'yellow, slo... Track clear track clear'. Great way to totally confuse a driver.

They should simply have a minimum time for yellows. If they bring it out, have a minimum time to clear it so race control is forced to properly assess it.

10 places grid penalty for race control!

(And yes, a penalty for the drivers, but I don't really blame them with all the mixed signals)

Apparently Ocon and Norris also improved their S3 times under yellow. I think Alonso was the only one who properly lifted in time, told to do so b by his race engineer.
