Giving race penalties for infringements in free practice just sounds wrong.
I think it depends on the circumstances. I would rather that they didn't penalise him, assuming he didn't do anything wrong (or if the flag was shown for a split second per another comment). But I also can't see red bull allowing it to slide given verstappen's penalty for apparently not seeing the double waved yellows last time. All fact dependent so let's see what happens.
Yeah, it is a wait and see situation. Not sure how much precedence there is for this.
I think more problematic was the impeding incident with Mazepin. That could've ended very badly. Giving a penalty would be harsh in many people's eyes given that there wasn't really a crash or anything taken away from Mazepin's lap in the global scheme of things. If it happened in Q1 it'd definitely be penalised.
