Hamilton summoned to stewards for allegedly not respecting double waved yellows, so presumably a 5 place grid drop unless they can show otherwise à la Sainz last time out.
Giving race penalties for infringements in free practice just sounds wrong.
I think it depends on the circumstances. I would rather that they didn't penalise him, assuming he didn't do anything wrong (or if the flag was shown for a split second per another comment). But I also can't see red bull allowing it to slide given verstappen's penalty for apparently not seeing the double waved yellows last time. All fact dependent so let's see what happens.

Hamilton also now summoned for alleged impeding at Turn Eight (the Mazepin incident)

regarding tyres left, everyone is in the same boat, by the way: 1 set of hards, 2 sets of mediums, 4 sets of softs

Yeah, it is a wait and see situation. Not sure how much precedence there is for this.

I think more problematic was the impeding incident with Mazepin. That could've ended very badly. Giving a penalty would be harsh in many people's eyes given that there wasn't really a crash or anything taken away from Mazepin's lap in the global scheme of things. If it happened in Q1 it'd definitely be penalised.

That one seems to be the only one worth any consideration. A collision there would've destroyed both their weekends given Qualy is literally 2 hours away from end of FP3.

What a time for everything to go wrong for Mercedes.

So either they were waving the flag for the car leaving the track RIGHT ahead of Hamilton to get out of his way, or for Verstappen for going slow in order to get out of the way.

But he will nonetheless get a penalty I’m sure.

Should they have also let Max get away with double-yellow infringement in Qatar?. Just curious.

if Hamilton did legitimately ignore a double waved yellow then he shouldn’t “get away with it” either.

I just saw it, did they wave for the car leaving track to give Hamilton space or what? The yellow flashed for 0,1 secs and then it went green again..
Well, there is precedent for yellow that are just waved and not flashed leading to penalties.

Oops! That's a good outcome for Verstappen and Red Bull - Honda assuming a penalty is applied.

Considering what he and his stewards let Max get away with in Brazil yeah we can!

I haven't seen any double wave yellows yet as I'm out for lunch with my family!
Alright fair enough. You can always watch it after. I understand you might get spiteful at Masi, but not all of it is his fault, remember that only the race stewards decide on these things - Masi just takes the heat cause he gets to communicate to the teams and you can hear him on the radios.

If you check my posts from yesterday you will see that I said they should have set minimum track speeds everywhere not just a minimum laptop.

The most disappointing part of all of this is they have tons of open space and money to build whatever they wanted, and this is what they ended up with. Because of this, we are coming into the finals on a rinky dink track that will wreck cars, create situations like Lewis is in now, and racing will suck.

What a joke.
