That was an incredible lap. Kudos to max but I think that his dumping of the throttle is all about pressure. He didn’t need to do that.

I know what you mean, but I'm not entirely sure it would alter his approach. He's used the same general approach on other drivers in past seasons when not fighting for the championship. I think he is still young enough that he would see the risk reward balance in favour of taking the immediate risk if it came to making a risky overtake / defensive move, even if behind in points going into the final race (and that's a big if going by the pace he just showed).Restomaniac wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:16True but 3rd puts Hamilton ahead going into the last race. That would mean Verstappen would need to completely alter his wheel to wheel mindset Vs Hamilton.adrianjordan wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:10Just looking at the grid, only Norris and LeClerc would be an issue to get past for him to get back to 3rd if it does need a new box. You'd expect the Alphas and Perez to jump out of his way.

The stewards have addressed the incident and with contaxt to previous incidents. They do a great job of explaining the facts of what happened.
I disagree with the luck thing. It's common sense not to go for broke on a street circuit. Max took his chance as he's prone to. Knowing when to fold is always the better long term strategy.
It was a good lap until it wasn't. Max has the best car this weekend. The MErc just cannot fire up the tires, it's something that happens every time they go on street circuits, something that has been hampering them since 2015 actually, with their Singapore woes. Max should have been on pole here. No excuses. He still has a chance to win tomorrow even with a grid penalty, because he will be fast.siskue2005 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:22What a lap by Max, he was on the edge at Turn 13, turn 23 24 ... everyone knows I am Lewis fan but boy oh boy that was a mighty lap until last corner.
Anyways Lewis and bottas needs to pull away with atleast 5 to 6 sec gap to 3rd car. That will gaurentee 1 - 2
Yeah it wasn’t just a tap and some have suggested.bonjon1979 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:29Also, that was a real thump. If the gearbox has survived that will be incredible
I think that was a mixture of frustration and a lack of maturity on Max's part. Lewis did what he needed to do, no luck required. I suspect he probably thought he'd be starting 2nd behind Max. If Max needs a new gearbox or not, tomorrow's race is likely going to be quite dramatic.bonjon1979 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:22That was an incredible lap. The real worries would be if the gearbox looks ok.. no way of really testing it before the race. Risk it or go for a new one is really the question.Restomaniac wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:30Yeah it wasn’t just a tap and some have suggested.bonjon1979 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 20:29Also, that was a real thump.
