Max doing long runs on the softs. Realise they’re not going to qualify ahead of merc so want speed off the line for track position/torpedo attack!

Would probably push them to a two stopper though!

I think a one stop is marginal. Might be a quicker way to race and if you’re a touch slower which they look like being, maybe they should try something different and shake up the pack a bit. Smart move I think. I’m only joking about max taking him out btw, it’s such a wide turn 1, it would be so obvious because there’s loads of room and different lines through there

Oh very interesting. The Mercs quicker in Quali spec but Max doing better than Lewis on race pace.

That's because max is on soft tyres and Lewis on mediums

Red Bull looking much closer than what people have been saying. Think quali will only be separated by a tenth or two. And no clue who would be Infront.

Still quite some games going on. RB is not that much slower in Q and Merc is not that much slower in race.

So it looks like W12 needs 2 warm-up laps in order to get the C5 soft tyres in their optimal temp window ...

Then both RB and Merc teams seem to be focusing mainly on the qualy setup, but having a split RW setup between the drivers with HAM and VER taking the route for a higher top speed, which seems obvious to do so ...

Both teams will end Q2 on C4 medium tyre and in the first stint looks like HAM is some 5 tenths faster than VER (without knowing the PU mode, fuel and stuff)

Now regarding race pace, the PER was 2-3 tenths quicker than both HAM and BOT but it was some 8km/h faster in SPD1 and 5km/h faster in SPD2 and it seems that the RB16B car was lighter, knowing that in the qualy runs it was the other way around regarding top speeds and sector times ...

Perez is still faster than both Mercs with mediums. It's usually a good sign when both Bulls are up there on pace. A 1-2 with fastest lap is 44 points, Bottas would have to finish 9th or lower to get the WCC assuming Hamilton finishes 3rd.

Nice, thanks for the speed trap comparison!
