Ocon being up there really shows that the single lap times aren't really worth looking at, no?

Karun was talking about a 1:22 he expects for quali if i understood his little back and forth with Ted correctly.

Heard Jenson saying Mercedes turned up the engine for one lap in the long runs and it was impressive , anybody knows what he's referring to ?

Hmm. Let's wait for the analytical lap times.

What I am seeing is that they are both playing games but ultimately looks like, its going to be a close race on both quali and race pace.

I'm a little confused by the optimism for the Redbull pace.

Mercedes are relatively slow in the sections with the straights. At what point is Mercedes going to be anything other than crazy fast on the straights when things are turned up?

The W12s seem to have found something for qualifying, while Red Bull has definitely appeared strong as regards the race pace. Perez on the same Mediums as two Mercs are inside 1 tenth in FP2. Max had good times on Softs. Very exciting!

The race pace times were confusing, unless Merc had engine almost off and the car was full of fuel. I think the quali laps are more representative of the ultimate pace of the cars.

I think the race pace times are more representative. Red Bull and Merc are very close, and way ahead of Ferrari and Alpine.

I only saw lots of sandbags, nothing to say really about the true pace of both teams. Verstappen 1s faster in race pace and 6 tenths behind quali? nah...

Just trying to bluff each other! Doesnt make much sense but in the end I think will be close.

Hamilton was lacking 7 kph to Perez on the straights during the race runs. While being towed by Perez even. So I’m not too sure the race runs here are very representative.

They don't even have the race engine in today

Looks like both sides wanna keep their powder dry

Fantastic stuff, I love these games. Let's see what happens when the engines are fully turned up tomorrow, and they're going hell for leather. I have a feeling Lewis will snatch pole by a tenth, and then sail into the distance on race day 8)

Mercedes on the radio said "corners very good" so it indicates they are aware that any time they are currently losing is down the straights.
